RBBC were selected to be resident in the Barbican, London as part of the wider programme of events Hack The Barbican; a project hosted by The Trampery in 2013.
Our time there was dubbed Familiarity Testing + was an experimental research project. We were resident in the Barbican Centre for one week, during this period we submersed ourselves in the structure + surrounds of the unknown space. We tested, through basic analogue means how familiar we became with our new environment + work / creative space.
Our experiments were playful, constructing improvised prototypes to assist in gauging our levels of familiarity + if it was possible to record the sense of becoming familiar with such implements through analogous documentation.
This is an on going area of research for RBBC + whilst resident within the Hack The Barbican programme, we intentionally avoided the creation of over polished outputs in order to allow the discussion to continue + prototyping to develop outwit the residency period.
